Wife's Review....

Warming Up for the Game! Luke,Head Coach Mike Smith, and Back up in the pic.
I love this picture! He really is the leader of the team.
He always has the best facial expressions! He is so studly in his Uniform!

Can I just say..OH MY GOSH!!!! MY HUSBAND IS THE MOST AMAZING MAN IN THE WORLD!! We drove up to Owensboro, Kentucky last Saturday to watch Luke and SVU Play against Kentucky Wesleyan. It took about 9 hours but me and 5 other wives made it! We took up a little section in the stands but, dang...we made A LOT of NOISE! I think my throat is still recovering! The game started off with a bang and didn't stop. The whole game was exciting to watch and for our parents back at home listening on the radio. (Our parents are wonderful supporters!) Luke played the best game of his career....breaking personal records, as well as, SVU's. I am so proud of him and the whole team. They worked extremely hard over the summer and over camp. They deserved it. This week they are trying to keep the momentum going because this is only the beginning.

Read the Roanoke Times article for the stats......

Roanoke Times Newspaper wrote about Luke and SVU!!!

SVU opens with win

The win is the first career victory for new Southern Virginia football coach Mike Smith.

OWENSBORO, Ky. -- Hayes Page took a pass from Luke Taylor and ran 35 yards down the sideline to score the winning touchdown with 13.7 seconds remaining in Southern Virginia's 42-35 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday at Steele Stadium.

The win marks the first career victory for head coach Mike Smith and the first time the Knights have won a season opener.

On the final play, Taylor was nearly sacked but escaped and found Page wide open on the left side of the field.

"I made a little move to the left to get away and got it to our playmaker," Taylor said. "Hayes made the catch and took care of the rest."

"I'm really proud of the way our guys finished the game," Smith said. "The offense played really well and made the big plays when we needed them. It's a good way to start the season, but we still have a lot to work on. Now it's time to get ready for Guilford."

McKay Dunn and Taylor, a junior transfer from Mesa (Ariz.) Community College playing in his first game for SVU rewrote the record book.

Taylor completed 26 passes for 541 yards and six touchdowns, all school records. Dunn finished with 10 receptions for 268 yards and three touchdown receptions, both school records.

Page finished the game with 21 rushes for 64 yards and three receptions for 52 yards and one touchdown. As a team, the Knights finished with 633 yards of total offense, a school record.

The Quarterback

A smile that makes you melt! I love it! This is Luke's Football picture. All the guys had to wear suits and most of them forgot....so each guy took a turn wearing his shirt and tie. =) The coaches are riding him hard but are really encouraging as well. He will be starting this first game in Kentucky and will lead the team off to a great start. Me and some of the wives are traveling together to go see them play. Luke coming out here was at around 235 is now down to 222. I told him that he will be as skinny as me pretty soon here! He better stop losing the weight!!! He looks good. =) The men just got done doing 3-a-days for the past 2 weeks. Insane. He only came out with about 5 bruises, a sore shoulder, a bruised forhead, and a sore hamstring. All in all, a good week at camp!

What's the scuddle bug?

We are so excited to move in! With football now in full swing it has been super tough to find a good day to start the move process. Last night the coaches told the players to go home to their wives and girlfriends for their last night of freedom. So Luke and I went to the only place in town that was open and had a nice dinner at Applebee's. I will remain husbandless for the next 4 months. =( Their 3-a-days start on saturday. I am however, excited for school to start and to go watch the games. We have a wives traveling group, so it makes it easier to go see the away games. Luke is having a really good start this season and has a group of talented coaches. We have also made some good friends with other players and their wives on the team. We will for sure have more pics to post really soon!

Here are pics of our new house! And if you have any decorating ideas let me know! I am going to have a little too much fun with this. =) You will have to forgive all of us…we had just finished working out and look kind of sweaty in the pics. The guy you don’t know is Tyler and he will be one of the guys staying with us…he is a really nice guy. We are also having 3 other guys move in, one of which is my bro. Kyle. This is going to be a different experience but it is going to be fun!
