LUKE TAYLOR, a 2002 graduate of Agua Fria High School, drops back to pass during a spring drill at Southern Virginia University. Taylor has been named to the NAIA preseason All-Independent Football Team.Luke Taylor fashioned a distinguished high school, career as an Agua Fria quarterback.

"He's a great kid and great leader," said Kelly Epley, current Owls head coach and head man during Taylor's senior season.
"It is kind of tough when you get a new head coach for your senior year," Epley said. "It took an adjustment."
Epley remembers Taylor as a tough, tall, strong-armed quarterback, with leadership ability.
"Luke has a great arm," Epley said. "He throws a great fade route."
"He stood in there and wasn't afraid of get hit," He added. "He's a courageous kid,"
Taylor has taken those attributes in a circuitous route to Buena Vista, Va,, where he is preparing to enter his senior year as the starting signal-caller for the University of Southern Virginia, an NAIA school.
Taylor guided the Knights to a 6-5 record in 2007, passing for a school record 3,292 yards, completing 214 of 351 passes and 31 touchdowns. He threw 15 interceptions. He was sixth in the NAIA in passing yards per game, passing efficiency (160.35) and total offense.
"Luke really helped take our offense to another level last season," Southern Virginia head coach Mike Smith said. "He was a big reason we were able to score so many points and have our first winning season. We're glad to have him back for his senior season."
